Laser Hair Removal Raleigh NC

Laser hair removal treatments are often performed in facilities where there is not a physician onsite and or with limited to no physician oversite. Laser hair removal systems are serious devices and when used incorrectly, they can damage the skin. Some lasers are simply ineffective. But, in some facilities low priced, ineffective lasers are used and / or laser technicians are not well-trained.

At Blue Water Plastic Surgery Partners we have been performing laser hair removal treatments since 2002. Each laser hair removal room is equipped with 2 lasers. One laser is ideal for light skin tones. The other is most effective and safest for dark skin tones.

At Blue Water Plastic Surgery Partners, clients have the option of purchasing a package of laser services. But most people prefer to pay as you go. This way, clients get what they need, and they aren’t paying for more than what is needed. We always want pricing to be transparent. We have performed hundreds of thousands of treatments in our 17 years. Not because people are locked into a contract – but because they are happy with their services and elect to come back. We offer pricing online and over the phone. We require a consultation with a nursing professional to be sure you are a good candidate for laser treatment prior to a service. But the consultations are informative and pressure free. There are really just two kinds of laser hair removal centers: those that are part of a medical practice and those that are operated by non-physicians. In a medical practice, the highest priority is delivering safe and effective medical care. In a business operated by lay people, the highest priority is generating revenue. So ask yourself, do you prefer to have your laser services performed where physician-supervised professionals provide your treatments, and where the physician is immediately available to you if and when needed? If the answer is yes, have your laser services performed at a physician owned and operated laser center.

Pay as you go laser hair removal treatments are available. We can also provide packages and financing for laser hair removal if that is your preference. Either way, pricing for laser hair removal is transparent and always clear before starting a session. We will work with you to find bundle areas in a way that is most affordable depending on the areas you’d like to treat with laser hair removal.

What if laser hair removal doesn’t work for me?

Almost everyone responds well to laser hair removal, provided your hair has a dark root. People with very, very fine peach fuzz – like hair with a dark root can take longer as the fine root doesn’t hold the laser energy as effectively as hair with a thicker root. Also, people with hormonal issues may need more treatments than others. These issues are almost always a concern with hair on the face. We counsel people about this prior to laser services. You will see improvements with each treatment, but more treatments than usual may be needed. At Blue Water Spa, our laser techs have the training and expertise to know when to use a combination of lasers and / or potentially multiple settings. We’ve seen people frustrated after a franchise that advertises a guarantee can’t eliminate their hair. We have made so many of these people happy and hair free, and for a fraction of the price they paid for a package elsewhere.

Can Laser Hair Removal Work on Blonde Hair?

Sometimes, yes. Many blondes have enough pigmentation in the root of the hair to make laser hair removal effective for blonde hair. Unfortunately, laser hair removal technology is not effective at removing gray, or light in the root.. Laser hair removal systems generate a single wavelength of light energy that targets a pigment in the hair follicle that is brown or black. There needs to be enough of this pigment in the follicle to absorb enough energy to disable it, permanently stopping hair production. Blonde, red and gray hair lack this pigment in the hair follicle, and thus laser treatment is ineffective at hair removal.

Who owns and operates my laser hair removal center?

There are really just two kinds of cosmetic laser centers: those that are part of a medical practice and those that are operated by non-physicians. In a medical practice, the highest priority is delivering safe and effective medical care. In a business operated by lay people, the highest priority is generating
revenue. So ask yourself, do you prefer to have your laser services performed where physician- supervised professionals provide your treatments, and where the physician is immediately available to you if and when needed? If the answer is yes, have your laser services performed at a physician owned and operated laser center.

Is laser hair removal a medical treatment?

Yes, it absolutely is a medical treatment. Laser hair removal can be performed safely and effectively; however, it is a medical procedure for which a careful and thoughtful pre-treatment evaluation by a medical professional is extremely important. For a safe and effective outcome, the right laser technology needs to be selected for each patient’s individual skin tone and hair color, and appropriate laser setting must be selected as well. Do your research and make sure that your laser hair removal center views you and prioritizes you as a medical patient having a medical treatment, and not as the target of a sales quota.

Are all laser hair removal systems essentially the same?

Absolutely not! Laser hair removal devices are not all created equal, so it is important that you seek treatment at a practice where a great deal of research and evaluation has taken place to select the safest and most effective hair removal lasers from the large number of lasers that are FDA-approved. At Blue Water Plastic Surgery Partners we use state-of-the-art lasers that have both the highest possible safety profile and the highest effectiveness at permanent hair removal for multiple skin types. Understand that there is no one laser that treats all skin types with appropriate safety and the highest possible efficacy, so make sure
that your laser hair removal center has multiple devices for different skin tones.

Do I Tip for laser hair removal treatments?

NO! No tipping ever for laser hair removal or any medical procedure, even if it is an aesthetic or cosmetic procedure

Will laser hair removal help with strawberry legs?

Strawberry legs, or strawberry skin is essentially when the root of the hair is visible beneath the skin. because lasers target the root of the hair, and not the surface of the skin, then the roots will be eliminated and the “look” of strawberry legs will be removed

Does laser hair removal work for people with dark skin?

Laser hair removal can work for dark skin provided the right laser is used. Each laser has a different target or chromophore.

Lasers for hair removal target pigmentation. Ideally, the lasers will reach the root of the hair but people with dark skin could also have pigment in the surface of their skin. This is why a special laser with a long pulse must be used. The laser for dark skin we use at Blue Water Spa is a long pulse and will bypass the surface of the skin, targeting the root of the hair exclusively. If the wrong laser is used, a person with dark skin will not achieve results from hair removal and can actually end up with serious skin damage.

No single laser works for all skin types. The laser for dark skin we use that the Blue Water Spa Laser Center has been evaluated as the most effective for dark skin in peer-reviewed medical journals.
