Plastic Surgery Consult Process
Located in Raleigh, North Carolina serving patients in Raleigh, Cary and Durham NC.
Whether you are local to North Carolina or traveling from out of town, our patient coordinators Amaris Balkus and Debbie Penny are the direct liaisons for all patients. If you are traveling from out of town for surgery, rest assured that our office is experienced in coordinating surgeries for patients traveling to see us and we strive to make the experience pleasant and convenient.
If you need help with travel arrangements we can provide complete support as well. We understand this is a big decision and we look forward to speaking with you to help you learn more about Dr. Law and Dr. Schmidt, our safe certified facility and focus on patient care.
The consultation process usually starts with an email or phone call to our office so that we can better understand your goals. Our Patient Coordinators will listen and speak with you about how our practice can best help you achieve your desired outcome. During your initial phone consultation with one of our Patient Coordinators, they can discuss your goals and give you average price ranges for the procedures that are of interest to you. Our office accepts major credit cards, care credit, cash and checks.
Our Patient Coordinators have worked with our patients for many years and are well equipped to answer most questions about surgery, the process, fees and any other questions you may have.
Amaris, Director of Patient Relations since 2005
Amaris has been with Dr. Law and The Plastic Surgery Center since early 2005 and has over 14 years assisting patients with their aesthetic needs. Amaris can assist you with scheduling surgery and answer questions related to your pre-operative care such as appointment questions, scheduling pre-operative testing and surgery payments.
Debbie, Patient Care Coordinator since 2003
Debbie has been with Dr. Law and The Plastic Surgery Center since 2003 and has over 16 years working directly with patients throughout their surgical process. Debbie can assist you with your initial surgical consultation and answer questions regarding surgical procedures, price ranges and pre- and post-operative care.
Angie, Patient Coordinator Since 2018
Angie has been with Blue Water Spa and Michael Law MD Aesthetic Plastic Surgery since 2018. Angie works directly with patients during their surgical process. Angie can assist you with your initial surgical consultation and answer questions regarding surgical procedures, price ranges and pre and post-operative care.
After we learn more about you, the next step is to speak with your surgeon in person or via phone consultation depending on your location.
Scheduling Your Consultation
Should you elect to have a consultation, the appointment will be all about you. Our approach to cosmetic plastic surgery is to evaluate each patient individually and to create a customized surgical plan specifically designed to help achieve your goals.
We require a consultation with all patients before performing their surgery. But if you have a specific time frame in mind please contact our office and one of our coordinators can discuss your time-frame and hold a surgery date if available.
If you are from out of town and unable to travel ahead of time for an in-person consultation we can arrange a private telephone consultation with your surgeon. If you decide to schedule surgery we will see you the day before surgery so that your surgeon can examine you in person and confirm the surgical plan.
If you are unable to meet with your surgeon prior to scheduling your procedure, and only proceed with a phone consultation, please keep in mind that there may be minor changes to your surgical plan based on in-person physical examination when you meet with your surgeon at The Plastic Surgery Center the day before your procedure.
Out-of-state patients will typically stay in Raleigh anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the type of cosmetic surgery. We try to minimize your travel expenses by allowing our patients to return home in sometimes as few as two days after surgery with follow up appointments via telephone.
Is There a Consultation Fee?
Many plastic surgeons who offer complimentary appointments actually pass you off to a “cosmetic consultant” or patient coordinator, or they may spend only a few minutes with you.
Our surgeons schedule a large block of time, generally 30 minutes to 1 hour for each prospective patient, and will always take as much time as you need to discuss your desired outcomes and your concerns. There is usually a variety of surgical options available, each involving different costs, risks, recoveries, scars, and results.
It is our surgeons goal to explore these issues as thoroughly as possible, so that you can make a truly informed choice about what you want done. Whether you have your surgery at The Plastic Surgery Center or not, you will be sure to leave with a dramatically enhanced understanding of your situation and possible aesthetic outcomes.
Surgery at The Plastic Surgery Center
Dr. Law has been in practice for almost 20 years and his 10 years of formal surgical training amounts to twice that of some plastic surgeons. His medical training took place at some of the most prestigious medical universities in the world, including UCLA, USC and Emory University where he graduated second in his class and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha.
Dr. Schmidt is one of a select few plastic surgeons with advanced aesthetic surgery training endorsed by the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). She has completed rigorous and comprehensive training in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Our extraordinary team of medical professionals will provide you with exceptional care before and after surgery. You will feel safe and cared for by our friendly well-trained nursing staff. Patients regularly comment that they feel as if the nursing team is with them every step of the way. A board-certified MD anesthesiologist will remain at your bedside for the entire procedure, providing the highest possible level of safety and comfort.
Privacy is a significant consideration for our local, regional and international patients. The Plastic Surgery Center is a first-floor facility, accredited by both The Joint Commission (JCAHO) and AAAASF. We are accustomed to seeing many high profile patients before and after surgery. Our private entrances and waiting area create an environment where discerning patients may avoid public entrances, lobbies, elevators and parking areas.
If you are considering cosmetic surgery with Dr. Law or Dr. Schmidt and live out of town, please call the office at (919) 256-0900 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more.
